The beginning

CREI Ven was founded in 1995 as a private non-profit consortium by a group of leading companies in the Veneto region, benefiting from an active collaboration with the University of Padua, with which it was able to pursue its initial primary objective: the provision of industrial research services to the business world.

Already in the early years of its activity, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory was created in response to the new EMC directive, which came into force in 1996. CREI Ven has thus represented one of the few and most successful consortium models of interaction and collaboration between universities and companies.

In 1997 the social structure was enriched with the entry of the CCIAA of Padua and the Consorzio Padova Ricerche, thus assuming the nature of a mixed public-private consortium.

Over time, the activities have been increasingly oriented towards the services of the Laboratory, which have found a growing interest. Initially aimed at its own members, the services provided by the company were later extended to third party ones through the transformation into a consortium in 2002. With the name CREI Ven - Centro Ricerca Elettronica Industriale Veneto S.c.a.r.l. since the early 2000s, the characteristics of the company have remained unchanged until October 2020, when the Kiwa Italia Group took over the majority share of the company.

Development and Accreditations

Since 2000 the Laboratory adheres to the ACCREDIA accreditation scheme with the intent to provide the best quality assurance in its measurement services. Subsequently, the evaluation of the safety of electrical products is activated including the household appliances and similar equipment and information technology equipment.

The growth continues over the years, with CREI Ven joining the IECEE ("CB Scheme") in 2011, initiating a new phase of development for the company, offering certifications for the export of products to various countries around the world. The Company also began to certify certain types of products for the United States and Canadian markets.

In the same years, CREI Ven began to operate also in the renewable energy and radio product sectors, also by expanding to a second location, in the industrial area of Padua, completely dedicated to perform safety tests on electrical products and tests on generators for renewable energy.

The historic site is then completely turned to the tests of Electromagnetic Compatibility and radio tests, with the arrangement maintained until the present date. The laboratories currently occupy a total area of 1600 square meters, with an adjoining logistics area for handling and storage of goods.
